The Selftrack hardware consists of the
following: 
Measurements & Weight
The Selftrack unit is quite small by industry standards,
measuring only 100 x 65 x 30 mm. It has 2 led lights that
show GPS as well as GPRS connectivity. The unit weighs
180 g.
Power source and battery backup
The unit can be connected to any external power source
ranging from 3 to 12 Volts DC. The Selftrack unit is protected
against spikes in the voltage, and has an imbedded backup
battery to transmit information up to 10 hours after the
external battery source has been disconnected. An additional
battery pack can be ordered and installed that will boost
battery backup time to more than 4 days.
Connectivity
The Selftrack unit will work in any GSM network with
GPRS connectivity. The unit records GPS co-ordinates and
transmits them in real-time via the GPRS network. The
Selftrack unit has a large memory buffer that records
GPS co-ordinates for up to 6 weeks if the unit is outside
GPRS coverage. As soon as the Selftrack unit acquires
GPRS connectivity again, it will download the recorded
GPS data ensuring you don’t loose any tracks!
Location Accuracy
The Selftrack unit is equipped with a Trimble GPS receiver
with accuracy of less than a meter, depending on the signal
quality.
