The iWISE Dual Technology motion detector series
from Rokonet with Anti-Cloak™ Technology (ACT™) sets the standard
for a new generation of detection technology, targeting the needs
of the security industry.
The new ACT™ technology has an innovative
breakthrough exclusive to Rokonet’s iWISE detector series. The iWISE
series is designed especially for commercial, industrial and institutional
installations and is also suitable for up-market residential applications.
Rokonet’s iWISE series satisfies the
needs of most demanding installations and is able to catch
even the most elusive intruders in the most extreme conditions.
What is ACT?
The problem facing users of dual technology detectors
is the vulnerability of the PIR channel. An informed intruder
may use a screen (an umbrella, a large cloak, a canvas sheet or
an Infrared-blocking plane) to prevent the equipment from detecting
his presence. In addition, PIR technology is compromised when ambient
temperature is close to body temperature ( so no Infrared signal
difference is detected). This is particular relevant when detectors
are installed in ceilings and temperatures, especially in South
Africa, rise dramatically. Detectors that always require triggering
of both the PIR and Microwave channels are therefore vulnerable
to misdetection.
ACT will cope with any attempt by a burglar
using camouflage techniques to conceal his IR radiation by utilising
unique pattern-recognition algorythms within the microprocessor
and automatically switch the detector
to trigger alarms based on detection from the microwave channel
for a predetermined time only.
ACT also overcomes PIR technology’s
limitation of poor detection sensitivity when the ambient temperature
is close to body temperature. When this occurs, the detector automatically
switches to single channel microwave triggering of alarms.
The method used for identifying
a cloaking attempt and making the decision to switch to Microwave
single channel triggering is described as follows:
A moving,
cloaked intruder emits a very weak Infrared signal that has a characteristic
shape and frequency. ACT uses unique pattern recognition algorithms
in the microprocessor that disregard the signal strength and concentrate
on the shape and frequency of the signal. After verifying that the
pattern of the signal matches that of an intruder and that Microwave
detection is also present, ACT switches to Microwave triggering
of alarms for a predetermined period. Weak Infrared signals such
as those described above are usually not analysed and therefore
ignored in conventional dual technology detectors.
The iWISE consists of a
powerful micro-controller with advanced
digital signal processing. This enables the innovative pattern
recognition algorithms and the outstanding performance of the iWISE.
The innovative Anti-Cloak Technology enables
customers to benefit from both capabilities: dual technology’s immunity
to false alarms, together with the higher detection ability of the
microwave channel.

Rokonet iWise/Cosmos PQ Quad Detector
Provides false alarm-free protection for tricky installations.

iWise/Cosmos PQ features 2 dual element pyroelectric
sensors and 2 separate signal channels which have to be
simultaneously triggered to activate the alarm.
It's suitable for installations where small household
pets (under 10 kgs), rodents, birds or insects may cause
false alarms, as it rejects the movements of small infrared
sources.
It is also ideal for installations such as showrooms
with large windows, where the detector may be exposed
to light from passing cars, homes with large picture windows
and premises where moving air from heating system vents
can cause false alarms.

Rokonet iWise/Cosmos Pet DT Detector
Highly immune to household pets and rodents.
The iWise/Cosmos Pet DT has been specially designed to
be immune to household pets (45 kg dogs, up to 6 cats
and multiple rodents).
Using unique VPT algorithms (Variable Pet Thresh-holding)
and a custom designed lens, the iWise/Cosmos Pet DT can
readily distinguish between intruder and pet signals,
while assuring superior catch performance.
The lens has been designed to reduce signals from pets,
while assuring catch performance of intruders. It has
7 zone pairs in each of 3 levels. The upper level is much
more sensitive than the lower ones. When the detector
is mounted at the recommended height of 2 metres, the
upper level enhances signals from intruders, making it
easier to distinguish between them and a pet.
In addition, the active creep zone ensures catch performance
close to the detector without compromising pet immunity.
The Pet DT uses its micro-processor to analyse the shape
and length of the PIR pulses from pets and intruders (see
diagram below).
The lens design is such that large, long pets are characterised
by longer and flatter pulses, as only part of the pet
is in the zone at any one time as the pet can at the same
time be in a + zone and a -zone, leading to a reduction
of signal. On the other hand, the zones are optimised
to the size of an intruder and thus give a maximum + signal,
followed by a maximum - signal.
In addition to the above benefits, the Pet DT has all
the features and advantages of the proven DT series.

Rokonet Zodiac Quad PIR Detector
With improved false alarm immunity
This PIR enjoys the same features as the Pro, with the
added benefit of a real quad pyroelectric element sensor
and specially designed low-gain electronics, which provide
improved false alarm immunity with more dense volumetric
detection coverage, even in hostile environments.
The real quad element sensor has four elements instead
of the standard dual element pyroelectric, both contained
within a single housing.
The quad element sensor is inherently more sensitive
than the sensor used in the Zodiac Pro. This allows the
reduction of electronic gain - false alarms from warm
air, moving curtains, temperature changes and small animals
and rodents are significantly reduced, while RFI immunity
in the Quad is increased to 25 V/M. The electronic band
width is narrower and has a cut off at higher frequencies
than the Pro. This means that the Quad is much less susceptible
to false alarms in harsh environments.
The Zodiac Quad offers high catch performance and superior
false alarm immunity for residential and light commercial
installations.

The Ilbino consists of an emitter and detector
with relay outputs and its operation is based on infrared
technology using a gallium arsenide diode.
The barrier is made by the emission of a modulated infrared
beam of light with a frequency above 100Hz and detection
by an infrared-sensitive photo element. Interruption of
the light beam causes a change of the relay contacts inside
the detector.
Ilbino can be used both indoors and outdoors and is suitable
for intruder detection and for use with automatic gates.

Maximum Active Infrared Beams
Indoor/Outdoor Infrared Beams
A dual beam active infrared detection system with an
effective range of up to 200 metres. It consists of
a transmitter that emits two parallel infrared beams
and a receiver that should be installed exacly opposite.
The crossing of the two beams activates the changeover
relay on the receiver side. If there is a reduction
in the quality of electronic eye contact between the
two parts of the system due to rain, fog etc. an alert
will be signaled by means of a different open collector
output.
It is water and weather-resistant with excellent protection
against light with possible sensitivity adjustment by
the calibration of beam crossing speed. It can be mounted
easily and quickly on walls or poles (pole-mounting
kit included). It is designed to work in the most difficult
